Harley E Dudley – Coach
In the summer of 2005, I “tweaked” my back lifting a stroller from the trunk of my car. My wife was also suffering from the effects of a Cesarean birth nine months AFTER the birth of our first child. I was at once mad and alarmed. I remember thinking, “We cannot keep going like this! We’ll be broken and debilitated in no time…” That night after everyone was asleep. I said a prayer, turned on the computer, and began my search for the truth about physical training, rehabilitation, and nutrition.
In that search, I found CrossFit.com. I examined the offerings on the website and every time I read an article or watched a video, I was more taken with CrossFit. I realized that I had found a unique program. A NO GIMICK program. I was so convinced and excited that I wrote a post on the CrossFit Message Boards, introducing my wife and myself. I entitled the thread, “Looking up at http://gzcrossfit.com? (pardon the typos…). By November 2005, I was meeting Greg, Lauren, Annie, Amundsen, Nicole, Tony, and others in Golden, Colorado at a Level I Certification Seminar. The reception we received from everyone was unexpectedly warm. Coach personally came up to us to convey how excited he was that we had come. They believed that CrossFit was not just for the already athletic, but for everyone. We were so sore after the seminar, we could not move for a week, but we were convinced that CrossFit was the closest thing “out there” to the truth about fitness, and we were on board.
DEBBIE Weitzman – CrossFit Level 1
I first attended my Level 1 Cert in November of 2005 a Cert led by Coach Torrman. My eyes were opened to the endless possibilities that a new life of fitness would provide me. The opportunity to break out of the mold of a sedentary, weak, overweight, unhealthy life. To change my family tree. I have maintained my level 1 and have since attended CrossFit Kids, CrossFit Olympic Weightlifting, and Gymnastics Certification Seminars. I am passionate about helping people to overcome their barriers to living as healthy and strong a life as they want to and with CrossFit I believe the sky is the limit to what we can achieve if we’re willing to work at it and push past our fears and insecurities. Being a stay at home Mom, homeschooling, fulfilling my other responsibilities as co-owner of the gym, and coaching CrossFit Kids and Base Camp keep me running. With my busy schedule, I am always developing easy, fast, and hopefully delicious Paleo recipes for my family to enjoy.
Debbie makes her home in Norman with Uwem, their children: Karis, Sophia, and Theophilus, a house mate named Dana, and two cats.
Charles Aneker – Coach
Growing up, Charles Aneker was always the last one picked. While this never deterred Charles from doing the best he could at what he was getting picked for, he was not quite the athlete that some kids his age were. Charles had always been what some would call “fluffy” and would try on a daily basis to curl the bars, push the weights, and pull the inner beast he thought he always had, out. He played tennis and would work-out with the HS wrestlers, but even this could not unleash the best. CrossFit has made the beast come alive. Charles has now been doing CrossFit for over 2 years and will never look back. Seeing the growth inside him come to life has inspired him to try and help others do the same. Coaching CrossFit has become a passion of his and while he continually grows he hopes that he inspires and motivates others around him to do the same. Charles received his L1 Cert in April of 2012 and has been coaching at Ground Zero CrossFit since then.
None of this would have been possible without the loving support of his amazing, patient, tolerable, compassionate, and gorgeous wife Alison. No man needs a greater inspiration, to get up and do the things they have to do, then to simply roll over and see the inspiration, every morning. Let’s GO!!
William Demon Burgess – USAW Sport Performance Coach
Having been in the Army the last 9 years I have always looked for ways to challenge myself and make sure that I was in good physical condition. I always did Army PT and even forayed into the various different exercise programs with limited results. I would lose some weight or be just above average on the PT test and I was always trying to find a way to push myself over the edge. After trying Crossfit for the first time in 2010 at the request of a coworker I was instantly hooked. After about 6 months I was in the best shape I had ever been in and was really excited. Unfortunately I ended up having knee surgery and was out for six months, during that time I grew lazy and lost my Crossfit counterpart. I PCS’ed to OKC and began the search for a new gym determined to get back to where I was. I found Ground Zero in February of 2012 and haven’t looked back since. The community and enthusiasm I found at the gym drove me to obtain my L1, and in September of that year I began coaching and love being able to help others achieve their fitness goals.
All of this came at the support of my beautiful wife Margaret who not only supports but pushes me everyday to be better. Harden Up.
Marcie – Personal Trainer / Coach
I became a Level 1 CrossFit Trainer and National Association of Sports Medicine (NASM) certified personal trainer in 2013 after a long journey to my own personal health. It began with daily walks through the cow pastures on a country ranch and peaked during a year of living in the Arab Gulf. It was there that I discovered that there are no restrictions of climate, culture, or anything else that can prevent someone with just a bit of courage and the desire to change from transforming their bodies and living a healthy lifestyle. After becoming a certified personal trainer I pushed my own limits and started CrossFit and since then seen exponential growth in my life and in the lives of the athletes I coach. I know from experience that a strong, healthy body doesn’t just happen. We must work for it. It’s not a matter of finding the time, but making the time and making active decisions.
